AARP will hold the 13th Annual Movies for Grownups Awards Gala in Beverly Hills on February 10, 2014. The evening is a celebration of films released in 2013 that have a distinct relevance to the 50-plus audience. As in past years, AARP honored several talented actors and filmmakers, but this event will be particularly special: The awards gala will also raise funds for AARP’s affiliated charity, AARP Foundation, in support of its efforts to end hunger among seniors.
This year’s gala will directly benefit L.A. Kitchen’s work to ensure that neither food nor people should ever go to waste. AARP Foundation works to create solutions for vulnerable older adults and seniors by helping them secure the essentials: food, adequate income, accessible and affordable housing and meaningful personal connections.
Each year, AARP Movies for Grownups also recognizes an artist of enduring accomplishment with our Lifetime Achievement Award. The 2014 Lifetime Achievement Award recipient will be Susan Sarandon, who joins an illustrious list of past honorees including Robert De Niro, Robert Redford, Alan Arkin, Sharon Stone, and Hal Holbrook.
The evening’s goal is to raise $100,000 to help struggling seniors.
