Wildfires have swept across California burning acres of land, evacuating thousands and leaving neighborhoods feeling very uncertain. Following the lead of our Founding Board Chair José Andrés, who has helped provide millions of meals to the people of Puerto Rico, L.A. Kitchen has taken the lead here and is working with World Central Kitchen to organize volunteers, food donors and chefs to help prepare wholesome, healthy meals for fellow Californians affected by the wildfires.
We’ve been supported by some great partners, like L.A. Specialty, Naturipe Farms, Dole Food Company, Masienda, Mustard Girl, and Marlborough School that have donated food for us to include. Our partners on the ground have includes Chef Tim Kilcoyne and Plated Events. We’ve also been blown away by 300 amazing volunteers who have rolled up their sleeves and worked side by side to help.
We are working closely with the Red Cross to identify the need in the upcoming days and will keep volunteers updated when we announce an emergency shift.
