Volunteers work alongside L.A. Kitchen chefs, kitchen staff, and alumni or students from our Empower Program to transform donated produce from local farmers and wholesale companies into wholesome healthy meals. The meals are distributed to our charitable partners that serve Los Angeles’ aging, low income, and homeless populations.
Activities might include cleaning, cutting, peeling, zesting and packaging meals. Volunteers learn and practice valuable knife skills and kitchen safety protocols under the direction of trained L.A. Kitchen culinary team members. No prior kitchen prep experience is necessary.
Service days are offered Monday through Saturday.
Weekday service times: 9:00am-12:00pm & 1:00-4:00pm
Saturday service times: 9:30am-12:30pm
Please wear a shirt with sleeves, pants, and close toe shoes. Volunteers can bring their own hat or apron, otherwise we will provide one for you.
Bring your family, friends and colleagues together at LA Kitchen with our group Kitchen Prep sessions. If you are interested in volunteering with a group please fill out a Group Volunteer Request Form.
